Ni vet ju att jag är lite av en skrotsamlare. Därför föll de här coola lamporna mig väldigt väl i smaken. Jag älskar dem verkligen. Och det känns ju som att Peter som driver företaget Rusty Remkakes och jag har ett gemensamt intresse.
Så här skriver han på sin sajt Rustyremakes.com om lampan här ovanför:
“Based on an American 10 inch red pulley with awesome patina. I actually found this pulley in a vintage shop in Stockholm, which is very unusual as these pulleys are seldom found in Sweden. The vintage lamp cages where bought online from a kind lady in Ohio and they’re in great shape and goes very well with the shiny silver colored lamp sockets. All cables and both lamp sockets are new and each socket comes with a chain so the Edison bulbs can be switched on and off individually. Perfect to hang this lamp in a window or above a table.”
Och här är historien bakom den här charmiga lampan:
“This design is all about brass, gas & glass. Every now and then, I come across different parts on my picking trips but it can take a long time before several parts actually becomes a design. In this case, that’s exactly what went down. I found the faucet almost a year before I managed to acquire the rest of the ship parts and it wasn’t until I realized that the bolt had the correct dimension to fit on the faucet that the design started to form in my head. Things became even more interesting when I noticed the shining AGA gauge fit perfectly on top of the faucet. Now, I did like the original top part too, but the design looked more balanced with something larger on top (flip through the product images to see the original parts).
Attaching the back part of the faucet to the fairlead was tricky and took some serious thinking and constructing, before everything was firmly fixed together. On top of it all, the tip of the faucet was extremely tight, which required hours of precision drilling before I managed to get cables through without damaging them. I completed the brass design with a large filament bulb in order to create a feeling of a huge bubble coming out of the faucet.”
